Hi Shereen,

I like rhyming poems because they have a rhythm. In this case, I liked these lines in version 1:

"Comparing oneself to another is as futile

as comparing the mountains to the sea.

Together we exist in nature,

each with unique beauty."

I liked these lines partly because they rhyme and partly because there is a single, easy-to-picture, starkly contrasting image. I loved the image! .

I preferred version 2 overall. There's more detail. But Verse 2 in version 2 seemed a bit busy to me. It had the feel of a mixed metaphor. I don't write a lot of poetry, so I am not an expert in this genre. It's just what I felt as a reader.
